Computing: Remove your Desktop Wallpaper

Microsoft Windows allows you to choose a picture to show as wallpaper on your desktop. However, this can dramatically slow your computer because it requires memory to be allocated and is refreshed every time the desktop is displayed. It is much faster to have a solid colour background. So consider keeping that photo of your kid/dog/car/home/partner next to the computer, instead of on it!
