Computer with DVI displays no output

Problem

A computer with a dual DVI/VGA (analog) video adaptor displays nothing when attached to an analog (VGA) monitor.

Solution

This may happen if the monitor is too old and not capable of accepting the instructions from the video adaptor.

Use a more modern monitor.
