Cannot Download/Browse Web with Nero Installed

Problem

If you have Nero 7 installed, you may be unable to download files from the internet, or surf the web. Also, when you initiate a scan with McAfee Total Protection it may show as “Completed” immediately.

Solution

This appears to be a problem with NMBgMonitor.exe, which is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib.

Uninstall Nero 7 or use Autoruns to disable NMBgMonitor.exe from startup, and then reboot.
