Microsoft Outlook: Cannot Open .MSG FilesWhen double-clicking .MSG (email message) files, nothing happens, or the Outlook window opens very quickly and closes. This may occur if a version of Google Desktop prior to 5.6.0711.24354 is installed. To fix, update Google Desktop to the latest version. Alternatively, to disable the Google Desktop add-in: - In Outlook, from the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Click the Other tab.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click Add-In Manager.
- Untick Google Desktop Search Outlook Addin.
- Click OK to close the Add-In Manager dialog.
- Click OK to close the Advanced Options dialog.
- Click OK to close the Options dialog.
- Close Outlook and re-open.
