Powerware LanSafe Memory LeakPowerware LanSafe leaks memory, eventually consuming all of the available RAM and paging file, and rendering a system inoperable. The module in question is C:\Program Files\Powerware\LanSafe\Bin\LSTrayAgent.exe which leaks 4Kb memory approximately every 10-11 seconds (roughly 1Mb every 45 minutes). This has been observed for the 5.x series and 6.0.0.7. LSTrayAgent.exe is present in versions from 5.1.3.3, but not included in earlier 5.x versions such as 5.0.8.6 and 5.1.2.1. To resolve, use one of the following methods: - Upgrade LanSafe to 6.0.0.16 or better. (NB. LanSafe 6.0.0.17 also resolves a problem detecting USB devices under 64-bit Windows Vista/2008.)
- Use Sysinternals' Autoruns to disable (or remove entirely) the automatic execution of LSTrayAgent, which launches from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (under the Logon tab). Then reboot.
- Delete C:\Program Files\Powerware\LanSafe\Bin\LSTrayAgent.exe.
