Cannot Print Graphics From A ZIP FileIf you open a ZIP archive file, then double-click a graphic file inside (eg BMP, JPG etc), Windows Photo Gallery will display the file but disables the print option (and some others). This occurs because when you double-click a file in a ZIP archive, the file is first extracted and saved to a temporary location, then opened by Windows Photo Gallery. However Windows Photo Gallery opens the file with reduced functionality because it knows the file came from inside a ZIP file and might therefore be riskier to open. (This is possible because Windows Photo Gallery launches as simply another window of the shell itself, not a standalone program. There is nothing special about the extracted file.) The solution is to double-click the ZIP attachment, extract the file to the file system (eg. the Desktop), then open the file from there. |
