Windows 8 Prompts for Account Details When Clicking Hyperlink

Under Windows 8, you may be prompted to enter email login credentials when clicking a hyperlink (URL) in Microsoft Outlook. This occurs because Windows 8's in-built mail app is the default program for opening links.

To correct:

1. Press Windows Key-R

2. Type Control and press OK.

3. Change View By to Small Icons (if not already).

4. Open Default Programs.

5. Choose Set your default programs.

6. Click Microsoft Outlook.

7. Click Set This Program As Default.

Outlook should now open URLs correctly.
