Windows: Date-Related Application Problems

Some applications may present errors or incorrect displays when using dates. This may occur if Windows is set to use the “Recommended” regional format:

Use Regional Settings to instead change the format from Recommended [English (Australia)] to English (Australia) (for example).

Within the registry, this change only seems to affect one key: UserLocaleFromLanguageProfileOptOut is set to 1 under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\User Profile. It is not known why this has an effect on third-party date handling.
