iTunes Does Not Back Up iPhone/iPads
When an iPhone/iPad/iPod is attached to a Windows machine, iTunes will launch and sync the device but not perform a backup. This is despite all connections seeming to be OK. Additionally, the “Backup Now” button will be greyed-out.
This may be because backups have been disabled. To reinstate the function:
- Close iTunes.
- Disconnect all devices.
- Open a command prompt and type:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt DeviceBackupsDisabled 0
Nothing will appear to happen.
- Reattach the devices.
