Playback Issues on Dell Laptop with MaxxAudio Pro

A Dell laptop may not play audio on the internal speakers and/or headphones. Additionally, the MaxxAudio app may show a blank screen, or show an error about the audio drivers being out of date.

One cause for this can be corrupt or invalid registry information for MaxxAudio Pro. To remedy:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt.

  2. Type:

    net stop WavesSysSvc /y

  3. Type:

    reg delete "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Waves Audio" /f

    reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Waves Audio" /f

  4. Reboot.

We also found that upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 resolved some issues with playback via different outputs.
