Changing to Australian Dates

Dates are formatted differently in various countries. If the computer is set to the wrong format, then confusion may occur. For example:

• Australia’s format is “dd/mm/yyyy” (eg. the 18th of June 2001 is formatted as 18/06/2001)

• America’s format is “mm/dd/yyyy” (eg. the 18th of June 2001 is formatted as 06/18/2001)

Windows 9x/NT4/2000

1. Click Start.

2. Choose Settings.

3. Choose Control Panel.

4. Double-click Regional Settings (or Regional Options).

5. Under General, choose English (Australia).

6. Click the Date tab.

7. Next to Short Date Format enter dd/mm/yyyy.

8. Choose OK.

Windows XP/2003

1. Click Start.

2. Choose Control Panel.

3. Choose Regional and Language Options.

4. Under Regional Options, set the language to English (Australia).

5. Under Location, set the country to Australia.

6. If you wish to further change the date format:
   1. Click Customize.

   2. Click the Date tab.

   3. Set the Short Date Format as you wish, eg. dd/mm/yyyy.

   4. Click OK.

7. Click OK.
