Outlook Express Drops Connection When Downloading Email

When downloading email with a dial-up connection, Outlook Express disconnects.

This will happen if you have several dial-up connectoids on your system and you are connected to the internet with one and Outlook Express is configured to use another.

This can be corrected as follows:

  1. Open Outlook Express.

  2. Go to ToolsAccounts.

  3. Click on the Mail tab.

  4. Click on the account name and choose Properties.

  5. Click the Connection tab.

  6. Turn off Always connect to this account using ….

  7. Choose OK.

  8. Repeat for any other email accounts.

  9. Choose Close.

Outlook Express should now use the current internet connection when downloading email.
