Access Denied When Opening Shadow Copy FilesWhen attempting to access files from a Shadow Copy, you receive: Destination Folder Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action.. This may occur if the permissions on the file at the time the shadow copy was taken are too restrictive (for example, it can only be accessed by an Administrator). Restoring files via shadow copy operates under the shell (Windows Explorer) which, by default, does not inherit administrator privileges, and the process to access shadow copy files does not prompt to elevate privileges. To work around this, see Open Windows Explorer In Elevated Mode. Then try restoring the files. |
