System Error 86

When using a NET USE command to map a drive to a remote system, the following error is returned:

System error 86 has occurred.
The specified network password is not correct.

This may occur if the clocks of the two systems are significantly different. Ensure the time on each system is correct, including the relevant time zones.

For example, a system where the clock looks correct but has the wrong time zone will actually have an incorrect internal clock, because Windows stores the clock as GMT and then displays an adjusted time to the user taking into account the time zone and daylight saving. So two computers may have different times because they are in different time zones but the internal clocks must be similar.
