HTC Sync Does Not Recognise Outlook 2002

On systems with Outlook 2002 (Office XP), HTC Sync may only offer the “Outlook Express” address book as an option to sync, and disables the Calendar option. This is despite the fact that HTC Sync ostensibly supports Outlook 2000/XP and later for synching calendars and contacts.

This occurs because HTC Sync looks up the version of Outlook installed and turns Outlook synching off.

This may be worked around as follows:

  1. Close HTC Sync, including the tray icon.

  2. Open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.Application\CurVer.

  3. Double-click the (Default) key and change Outlook.Application.10 to Outlook.Application.11.
