Outlook 2003: Cannot Print HTML Emails

When printing HTML-formatted email messages from Microsoft Outlook 2003, the message is not printed, although the process appears to complete without error.

This may occur if the system has Internet Explorer 9 installed, or if Internet Explorer 8 is installed, and the “Print background colours and images” setting is disabled.

To resolve:

  1. Uninstall Internet Explorer 9, if it is installed.

  2. If this reverts the system to Internet Explorer 7, install Internet Explorer 8.

  3. In ToolsInternet OptionsAdvanced, enable Print background colours and images under the Printing section.
