Workstations Lose Connectivity After Server Network Adaptor Driver Update

Usually, Windows does not need to reboot to apply a driver update for a network adaptor because it can shut down the driver, replace the files, and restart the driver. This creates a momentary connectivity loss.

However, after successfully performing a network adaptor driver update on a server, workstations in the network may lose internet connectivity, especially those that have been powered-on or rebooted since the driver update. This may happen if the DHCP Server is not listening properly on the server, and is no longer giving out IP addresses. In this situation, restart the DHCP Server service.

If there are other peculiar effects, it may be best to simply reboot the machine.
