Manually Updating Global Address List

In a Microsoft Exchange/Office 365 environment, the server maintains a list of all of the users called the Global Address List (GAL). Because this list can be large, the version of the list that is accessed from workstations via Outlook is a copy, not a live link. In the normal course of events, the offline copy of the GAL will update by itself but from time to time it is necessary to refresh it manually so recent changes are visible.

Outlook 2010/2013

1. Click the Send/Receive tab in the ribbon.

2. Click Send/Receive Groups.

3. Click Download Address Book.

4. Untick Download changes since last Send/Receive.

Outlook 2003/2007

1. Go to Tools → Send/Receive → Download Address Book.

2. Untick Download changes since last Send/Receive.

3. Click OK.
