Fuji Xerox Printers: DNS Errors During Scanning

Scanning to Email

When scanning to email on a Fuji Xerox printer (DocuCentre for example), the console may display “DNS server failure, make sure that DNS address is correctly set”. Additionally, the web console may show the following error codes against the failed scan jobs: 005-135, 005-122.

This may occur if the message being sent from the scanner is too large for the recipient's mailbox.

It may also show 027-504 Invalid SMTP server’s response. This may be due to the scan file being larger than allowed by the printer itself. This may be reconfigured as follows: open CentreWare Internet Services, go to PropertiesConnectivityProtocolsSMTP ServerMaximum Data Size per E-mail.

Scanning to SMB

When scanning to PC (ie via SMB), the console may display “DNS server failure, make sure that DNS address is correctly set”.

This may occur if the password in the credentials supplied is too short. For example, we found 5 characters to be too short but 9 characters worked. (Old models were able to use the 5 character password.)
